GUIDELINES FOR OUTDOOR BURNING
1) Anyone wishing to burn must first have approval of the FIRE CHIEF or FIRE MARSHAL.
2) You must call the Fire Department or Fire Marshal’s Office to obtain a safety inspection prior to any outdoor burning.
3) The material to be burned and the burn site must be inspected for safety reasons.
4) IMPORTANT: AT NO TIME WILL THE FIRE BE LEFT UNATTENDED.
5) Products not to be burned: NO EXCEPTIONS (Tires, Rubber Products, Shingles, Asbestos, Insulation, Fiberglass, Plastic, Furniture, Clothing, PVC, ETC.)
6) Permits issued to, and supervision of burn pile by adults 18 years of age or older.
7) You must be present during the inspection and sign for the permit.
8) Permits are issued Monday through Friday from 8am to 12pm.
9) No flammable liquid shall be used to start your fire.
10) Permits are limited to (2) per month per property owner or property address and a maximum of 10 permits issued in one day throughout the city.
11) Burn piles shall be located 50' from any structure.
12) A garden hose or fire extinguisher shall be on hand during any outdoor burning.
The Fire Chief, Fire Marshal or a City Police Officer may order any fire extinguished and permit be revoked for violations of the outdoor burning ordinance adopted by the City of White Oak.

Additional guidelines will be given and followed on a per case basis. This will be for your safety and the safety of others, and the protection of property. Burning without a permit could result in a fine up to $2000.
